As many of you know, I started a cooking business a few weeks ago. Last Thursday we had a nice thunderstorm here and the power went out briefly. I had already made my desserts for a catering event, thank goodness, because after the power outage, my oven went on the fritz! It decided not to heat up all the way! My clients for the evening had to finish cooking their food at home! Terrible right? That's not the end! I used my oven again and it seemed fine, so I thought, well maybe it was just something to do with a breaker.
Today was a really good day - up until about 2:00. I made some yummy chicken salad and started preparing my meals for this evening. "Mema" was up visiting. I was ready to put my entree in the oven and what do you think happened? That's right!! Oven pooped out!! Luckily, I have the best Mother-in-law in the world because she took my food to her house and cooked it for me! I ended up taking everything over there to finish it off for my clients! The food was delivered and it was piping hot!
It seems when things go bad, you can always see a blessing coming out of it. We are getting a second oven to help out in the business. Kathy has one she is giving to us to use! She is a blessing to me, not just because she helps me, but because she has given me a friend! We have a lot of fun together, talking and joking, and just being ourselves!

Life Blog - New Idea
Ok, so I went to see Julie and Julia last night with Kathy (my Mother-in-law) and we had a great time. This morning, she suggested I start a blog on something. We decided it would be a fun thing to look back on over the months. The subject? Our life! So many silly things happen to us every day! Some might be just ordinary stressful situations, or really funny things. Here goes...
Last night, during the movie, she wanted to eat a piece of candy ( we had smuggled in ). She was trying to conceal it with her purse while opening. She proceeds to dig in with her thumbnail and I hear her mutter, "What in the world?!?". She thought she was getting a Starburst when she was actually beheading a Snickers bar. She is smelling her finger and biting chocolate out of her thumbnail. For some reason (this might not be as funny to you, but as they say, you had to be there!) this sent us into a fit of laughter! We laughed so hard I thought we were going to have to make a trip to the bathroom!! This went on for a few minutes. She practically cried and we could not breathe!
Her shoes felt very uncomfortable and she expressed to me that she thought she might have two different shoe sizes on. So, I am holding them up, comparing them, and sure enough, they were different! I guess you never know what you are going to get on the clearance rack! She put them on and rested her feet on the bar in front of us. One side was obviously bigger than the other one! Did we laugh again? You bet, another fit of laughter that left her crying and me almost wetting myself. All of this before the previews even began!

Catching Up...
It's been a long time...Thanksgiving and Christmas have passed and the New Year is here! I don't have a resolution really, only to not have a resolution! I never follow through on them so there is really no point right? I would like to lose a few pounds and need to drink more water, definitely. But I'm not making it official! I think I just broke my resolution...Anyway...
We had a quiet Christmas Day here. The kids were very excited for the presents they received. Even though it wasn't Josiah's first, it was the first big one for him not being an infant and all. He had a blast ripping paper, and once he got the hang of it, he didn't want to stop! The weekend before Christmas was CRAZY! We had 11 cousins in the house at once! Ages ranged from 4 months to 16 years. It was a lot of fun!!
I really missed my family this year. Even though we had a good time, there are missing pieces to my life and they are all spread out between CA, CO, and AZ. It's hard not seeing them, especially on the holidays.
New Year's was just not a big deal for us. We stayed up, but we don't have cable, so we didn't see the ball drop or anything - big deal, huh? We just watched movies, and said goodnight at midnight.
On New Year's Eve, we welcomed triplet goats onto our farm! A few nights later, twin goats, and the night after that, twin goats! Then, this morning, our tiny fainting goat, Sunshine, had triplets. One of them didn't make it but the other two are fine. So, in 9 days we had 9 new kids!! (Baby goats!) The "Goat Nursery" is full and we still have 3 more does who are probably expecting! I think they might be a couple of months away though.
I will post more pics as soon as I can. I just bought a new computer and don't have my stuff installed on it yet. I was without a computer for 2 weeks or so, which added to my neglected blog!
Until then, I hope all of you are wonderful and thanks for visiting my page. Love to all...

Baby's First Birthday!
Today was Josiah's first birthday. It's hard to believe a whole year has come and gone since he came into our lives. Since then, a lot has changed! He went through a lot in his first couple of months and I hate to say it, but it is kind of a blur to me now! Many of you may not know, but he had jaundice real bad, so much so that for about a week we were going to the hospital to have blood drawn every day. That finally ended and then not long after, he ended up with RSV. We all know how scary that could have turned out, but God kept him from serious harm. He has brought so much joy to my life even though he definitely can be a stinker! He has just recently started throwing temper tantrums. That is no fun!
We had his birthday party at Mema and Papa's house. We had his favorite dinner: meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans. He also had his very own cake to dig into. It was so sweet, he had to look at us before he would even touch the cake, as if to say, "Can I?" He was so happy to be able to touch it, and Jacob helped with the first bite, putting some on his finger and feeding it to him! At present opening time, he was very excited to open his card from Nana and Papa Tom when he found out it sang to him! He loves those musical cards!! He danced and danced!
Saturday we will be going on his birthday trip to a children's museum in Chattanooga, TN. We hope to have lots of fun!!
Love to all!

Fall
I love fall here in Tennessee! The colors are absolutely beautiful, though they only are at their peak for a short time. About a week ago they were the most vibrant oranges and reds they will be for the season.
Madisen turned 7 on October 10th. She is growing up too quickly! (They all are.) Halloween has come and gone. The kids had a great time at the community Harvest Festivals. They filled up on hot dogs, soda, and, of course, candy!
November is here and in just 12 short days our little baby will be a one-year old toddler. Yes, he is toddling around pretty well now! He is growing so fast and I can't believe how this year has flown by. We have a busy month ahead of us, with his birthday trip coming up on the 15th. The girls have a Drama performance on the 8th. And John has a show on the 21st for a middle school lock-in. Thanksgiving will be here before we know it!
Thanks for reading and God Bless!
